October 21, 2013 – The UW Hockey club shares a home and home series with the University of Northern Colorado Bears this past weekend.
Wyoming suffered an 8-5 loss to the UNC Bears Friday night in Greeley Colo. During the 3rd period, the Cowboys were only down by one goal with a score of 6-5 which led to the decision to pull the goaltender for that extra attacker on offense. Unfortunately Wyoming was unable to capitalize with the extra player and the Bears put away two empty net goals to make a final score of 8-5.
The Cowboys hosted the Bears Saturday night in Laramie but struggled to take advantage of being on home ice. Wyoming recorded their second loss of the season by a score of 5-2. Similar to Friday night’s game, the game came down to the final minutes of the 3rd period. The Cowboys tied up the score at 2-2 but made a few costly mistakes allowing UNC to net three more goals.
Sam Dielwart (Calgary, Alberta), and Roland Valadez (Longmont, Colorado) both contributed goals and an assist for the Cowboys on both nights. Noah Crank (Cheyenne, Wyo.), and Jake Marcus (Douglas, Wyo.) also recorded a goal for the Pokes Friday night.
The Cowboys (2-2) will be on the road this coming weekend, traveling to Provo, Utah playing one game against BYU.
